In the Summer of 2017, I visited Italy with a cohort of OCAD University students and my thesis advisor, Dr. Martha Ladly. A visit to the Venice Biennale (one of the art world’s biggest events) was a pivotal experience for my art practice. It was the first time I saw that density of contemporary sculpture with my own two eyes. Below are a few images from my trip. Given my taste in pop aesthetics, many of the things that caught my eye were outside the official festival, in commercial galleries and the independently staged Damien Hirst show. If you’re curious to identify an image / artist found there, please contact me.
